Cypriot Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists

The Cypriot Association of Chiropodists and Podiatrists was founded in 2003. At that time the number of the chiropodists/podiatrists had been very small and forming an association of 20 members was not feasible. Today, however, the association counts 29 members, providing (only) private podiatric care all over the island.

Since then, we have been working towards regulating the profession by “the law for registration chiropodists and podiatrists” at the moment and we are aiming to have this approved by the new parliament in the year 2011.

Aims of the Association

1. The promotion of foot health through educational programs, events and publications.

2. The prevention of various podiatric pathologies and complications.

3. The continual informing of the public for podiatric matters.

4. The promotion of podiatry in the public health care, institutions and private clinics.

5. The promotion of high professional standard in the science of podiatry for the benefit of the public and for the protection of the profession of podiatrists according to the Law.

6. The evolvement of mutual apprehension and respect of the rights between the members of the society.

7. The study of social, technical, financial and professional problems of the members of the Society and the detection of required methods and ways for their settlement.

8. The updating of the general public with objective and precise ways regarding podiatric matters based on scientific evidence.
